(I just updated to the 386.x version yesterday) I don't really understand why that is, (beyond that it makes ASUS mad I think?) but I am sure people will respond here to tell us.īut anyway, once you convert them, they continue to load the current Merlin firmware just fine, and honestly, I haven't had any real troubles with them. You literally can't bring them up on any site, and the "how to convert them properly to be a real RT-AC68U" have been scrubbed by all the usual sites you might go to. That being said, apparently these are apparently like the ugly step-child that no one wants to talk about/deal with. They really are quite good, and continue to use them to this day with the latest Merlin. As the RT-N68U is about 200 everywhere I looked, buying one for 99 is a deal. If you wish for your flair to be changed, please message the mods and we'll be happy to change it for you. A forum thread on that site has posts from a couple users who got this TM-AC1900 and by using recovery mode were able to flash merlins firmware so it becomes an RT-N68U.
